The IR Scanner is a locally deployed sensor unit designed to detect vehicle-specific information at defined points along the route. While vehicles are in motion, it captures relevant data in real time and makes this information immediately available to the traffic infrastructure. This enables situation-dependent control of routes, access points, and special zones – precise, automated, and efficient. Continuous data acquisition allows traffic flows to be differentiated in a targeted manner. For example, short vehicles can be preferentially guided into inner-city areas, while long vehicles or vehicle-trailer combinations are automatically routed along alternative paths. Access can also be selectively granted to specific vehicle types, such as allowing buses to enter designated stop areas while other traffic is diverted. Vehicles with a low battery charge can be directed to inductive charging zones, while vehicles with sufficient remaining charge continue without impacting traffic flow. The result is more efficient use of infrastructure while simultaneously relieving sensitive traffic areas.
